Palliative care – on line learning, the opportunities are growing

The Australian Healthcare & Hospital Association (AHHA) has announced the launch of an expanded palliative care online information and training portal, with new training materials and extensive resources.
Two new free online training modules launched on July 1, 2015, build on the success of the AHHA’s first four online units on community based palliative aged care. All six units are now available at no cost click here

The two new modules are:
Pain Management which examines pain from a holistic perspective, and provides insights into discussing, assessing, treating and then managing client pain.
The other is Recognising Deteriorating Clients to assist with managing the many diverse and complex aspects of end of life care involving clients, carers and family members.
Earlier module topics are:

  •  An introduction to palliative care guidelines
  • A palliative approach to care
  • Planning and assessment
  • Providing care to clients & carers
  • Delivering a palliative approach for aged care in the community setting

Registering to access the modules is free and you will need to complete a new user access survey. Once this is done you have access to the modules, references, discussion forum and knowledge base pages.
Don’t forget CareSearch (an Australian palliative care knowledge website) which has a range of information and resources.
