The Office of the Public Advocate (OPA) has released a new edition of the very popular publication, Take Control, updated to incorporate recent changes to the law.
Take Control includes the information and forms you need to:
appoint a medical treatment decision maker
complete an advance care directive
make an enduring power of attorney.
It explains the difference between a medical support person and a medical treatment decision maker.
Medical decision making laws changed on 12 March 2018 with the commencement of the Medical Treatment Planning and Decisions Act 2016 and can be downloaded here
Palliative Care Australia launched the 5th edition of the National Palliative Care Standards and the Palliative Care Service Development Guidelines at Parliament House this week. The new edition has reduced from thirteen to nine the number of Standards, and aligned them with other relevant Standards. PCA’s media release and a short YouTube video (1:50) are available online.
