Welcome to EMRPCC website

Eastern Metropolitan Region Palliative Care Consortium (EMRPCC) is an alliance of palliative care providers in the Eastern Metropolitan Region (Local Government Areas of Boroondara, Knox, Manningham, Maroondah, Monash, Whitehorse and Yarra Ranges).

Member agencies include: Eastern Health, Eastern Palliative Care, St Vincent’s Hospital (Melbourne), Fernlea House, RDNS and Divisions of General Practice.

The Consortium’s aspiration is that residents of the Eastern Region with a terminal condition, their families and carer’s have access to a high quality palliative care system that fosters innovation and provides coordinated care and support that is responsive to their needs.

There are eight Palliative Care Consortiums funded by the Victorian Department of Health (DH), covering metropolitan and rural Victoria. The Eastern Metropolitan Region has several working groups providing an integrated and coordinated approach to consortium project areas The Consortium will continue to actively develop, strengthen and promote palliative care in the region.

The Eastern Metroplitan Region Palliative Care Consortium currently has 1 Palliative Support Nurse (PSN) position vacant
The position is part-time with 30 hours a fortnight being spread across 5 set days.
As a PSN you will be working closely with residential aged care,supported residential and disability services. Work also includes engagement with primary health, subacute care and specialist palliative care providers.Recent experience with any of these sectors is required.
The role has only recently commenced and is in an establishment phase.This is an exciting time to be joining the PSN team.

What is Palliative Care?

The World Health Organisation (2008) defines Palliative Care as "an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problem associated with life threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychological and spiritual".
