Sunday May 25th to Saturday 31st of May is national palliative care week.
National palliative care week is a time to further raise awareness that palliative care provides a diverse range of support. Death is never a comfortable thing to talk about, but it is a part of life that we all must face. Palliative care services have differing programs to support people who are referred. Exploring the pages on our website gives a small insight into the services offered. The type of support available also depends on what a person may want.
It takes a diversified work force to deliver these services and a sub-theme of this years awareness is the palliative care workforce. There is active encouragement to increase the number of younger clinicians working within palliative care. Some of us (well me actually!) took over 20 years of other clinical work before “discovering” palliative care.
